Advanced Total Joint Surgeon Joining OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports

A new total joint care specialist will join the recently expanded OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports this month. The practice, which has provided specialized bone, joint and muscle care to Birmingham and surrounding areas since 1987, opened a location in Hoover in July and will soon welcome fellowship-trained joint replacement surgeon Patrick R. Peavy, M.D. Starting Aug. 24, Dr. Peavy will be available in Birmingham at 1801 Gadsden Highway and in Hoover at 118 Mars Hill Road. As a specialty-trained orthopedic surgeon with advanced subspecialty training in joint reconstruction surgery, Dr. Peavy offers the highest level of total joint care for conditions such as hip and knee arthritis and complex fractures. His expertise includes:

  • Revision knee replacement.
  • Hip replacement, including the direct anterior approach.

After earning his medical degree and completing his five-year orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Dr. Peavy pursued additional subspecialty training. He was accepted into the AO Trauma International Fellowship through Spital Davos in Switzerland to train in advanced orthopedic trauma care. He then went to Boston, where he completed a second fellowship in adult joint reconstruction through Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. With his training and experience, Dr. Peavy offers patient-centered treatment plans designed to reduce pain and improve function.
