Sprint® PNS
Leading-Edge Pain Relief
Our experts at OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports don’t want you to be limited by chronic pain and are here to treat you with the latest solutions, including SPRINT PNS.
There are times when a nerve will act up, and the brain gets involved and can make things worse. SPRINT PNS is designed to help the brain return to a normal way of sensing painful and nonpainful signals from the nerve. The SPRINT PNS System accomplishes this by stimulating the nerve, which sends positive signals to the brain, resulting in a reset in the brain and possibly long-term pain relief.
What to Expect From SPRINT PNS
The SPRINT PNS System offers patients a minimally invasive implant that lasts 60 days and is crafted to manage chronic pain. This treatment does not require any incisions, surgery, permanent implants, or nerve destruction and uses a lead diameter that is similar in size to a human hair.
During the 60 days, a patient wears a small battery on their skin and uses a remote to turn stimulation on and off and up and down on the system. A bandage is worn covering the lead exit site and needs to be changed throughout the treatment. A patient can shower normally with this treatment but cannot submerge the exit site in water during this time.
Potential risks from the SPRINT PNS system include:
- Accidental lead removal
- Lead fracture
- Skin irritation
