ROSA Knee System without Cut Guide

What Is ROSA Knee?

ROSA Knee is a robotic surgical assistant designed to help surgeons perform total knee replacement with more precision and a higher standard of care. Using real-time information, ROSA Knee assists surgeons in removing bone that is damaged, improving accurate placement of the implant, and assessing the state of soft tissues.

Is ROSA Knee Right for You?

While ROSA Knee robotic-assisted total knee replacement can provide patients with a range of benefits, it is typically recommended for patients who:

  • Have exhausted all applicable nonsurgical treatment options, such as physical therapy or injections
  • Are experiencing debilitating pain from a degenerative joint disease, such as osteoarthritis
  • Are unable to accomplish everyday tasks due to joint pain

To determine if ROSA Knee robotic-assisted total knee replacement is right for you, your orthopedic surgeon will thoroughly assess your condition as well as ask you questions about the pain you are experiencing and how it affects your everyday life.

What to Expect

Your experience before, during, and after surgery will reflect that of most total knee patients; however, there will be a few key differences.

Before Surgery
Once you have been determined to be a good candidate, one of our joint surgeons will explain the procedure in detail and answer any questions you may have. They may use a series of X-rays to create a 3D model of your knee to develop a personalized surgical plan prior to your surgery.

During Surgery
Your surgeon will perform your total knee replacement using the ROSA Knee System, a robotic assistant. Our joint experts have been specially trained to use ROSA Knee in order to personalize your procedure to your unique anatomy.

To know the exact position of your knee, ROSA Knee uses a camera as well as optical trackers that are attached to your leg. This helps your surgeon accurately carry out your personalized surgical plan. Throughout your surgery, the ROSA Knee provides your surgeon with data about your knee, helping them precisely place the implant.

After Surgery
Following your surgery, you will start your recovery plan that has been designed for your specific case. Recovery time varies for each individual, but most patients can start doing light activities, like driving, after 2 weeks. Other light activities, such as gardening, can be done after 3 to 4 weeks. After 6 to 8 weeks, some recreational activities, such as golf, are safe to start doing. As your recovery progresses, your surgeon will meet with you to discuss when you can start participating in certain activities again as well as which ones you should continue to avoid.
